The Mandate of Accra Technical University, as provided for under section 3(1) of the Technical Universities Act, 2016 (Act 922) are among others to provide higher education in Engineering, Science and technology-based disciplines, Technical and Vocational Education and Training, Applied Arts and related disciplines.
The University's governing body with ultimate responsibility for the affairs of the University, is the Governing Council. This is done in collaboration with the Management Board, the Academic Board, and other departments, units and committees. The governance structure of the University is enshrined in its Statutes (which stems from the Technical University Act) from which both Council and aforementioned departments and committees derive their powers.
